The college football calendar is entering bowl season as we near the holidays. The NFL calendar is inching closer to the postseason as teams battle for playoff berths. In both cases, there are plenty of fans (and front offices) whose attention has turned to the top prospects entering the 2025 NFL Draft.

We’ve been looking at the top players heading to the next level over the past couple weeks. Today, we’re turning our attention to the outside on the defensive side of the ball. As the money being paid to wide receivers increases, the importance of defensive backs who can cover them becomes paramount. And this year’s class of corners has some exceptional talent and skill that will help their future employers immediately. And two could hear their names called in the top ten overall selections.

Here are the top cornerbacks entering the 2025 NFL Draft.

Will Johnson

Michigan 6' 2", 202 lbs 12 solo tackles, 3 pass breakups, 2 interceptions, 2 touchdowns
Johnson declared for the 2025 NFL Draft on Dec. 11, putting his name officially at the top of this list and into the consensus top ten overall prospects for this year’s class. He’s a shut down capable superstar. And that’s with him missing part of his junior year because of injury. Johnson has a Michigan record three Pick 6s on his resume with nine total interceptions and 10 pass breakups. He has the ideal size, speed and ball skills to be a No. 1 corner for a long time.

Travis Hunter

Colorado 6-1, 185 lbs 20 solo tackles, 11 pass breakups, 1 forced fumble, 4 interceptions
The best bet to win the Heisman Trophy this season, Hunter also appeared on our list of the top wide receivers in the 2025 NFL Draft class because he can do both. And he has; he accounted for over 1,100 yards as a receiver and was also a legitimate shutdown corner defensively. The big money question for NFL scouts and front offices is if he can do both at the next level—and if they’ll let him. He’s elite at both positions.

Shavon Revel, Jr.

East Carolina 6' 3", 193 lbs 4 solo tackles, 2 pass breakups, 2 interceptions, 1 touchdown
Revel appeared in only three games this season but still managed to pick off two passes. He has the size and speed package NFL teams covet in coverage. He’s also a physical corner who can help in the run game and hold his own in press coverage. He’s an explosive athlete who should hear his name called early in the draft.

Benjamin Morrison

Notre Dame 6' 0", 190 lbs 14 solo tackles, 3 pass breakups
A hip injury ended his junior season on Oct. 12 but he still managed to put up solid numbers in the first half of the season for Notre Dame. Morrison had nine career interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown. He isn’t as tall as some of the other prospects on this list but has long arms and an incredibly high football IQ. He had good hands and is physical enough to play the run and press coverage.

Trey Amos

Mississippi 6' 1", 190 lbs 36 solo tackles, 13 pass breakups, 3 interceptions
Amos spent three years at Louisiana-Monroe and then one year at Alabama before finishing his collegiate career at Ole Miss this season. He has good coverage instincts and good size to play at the NFL level, but his limited speed might make him a nickel in the NFL. He isn’t a great tackler in the run game but he forces a lot of incompletions because of his athleticism and arm length.

Jahdae Barron

Texas 5' 11", 200 lbs 32 solo tackles, 9 pass breakups, 5 interceptions

Barron played all five years at Texas, something that’s rare in this era of the transfer portal. He was a strong contributor the final three years, during which he collected eight career interceptions and two sacks. He was credited with 21 career pass breakups as well. He isn’t a tall corner but he has a lengthy resume against elite competition and has put up strong numbers. Barron is likely a Day Two pick at this year’s NFL draft.
