HONG KONG—Six of the top 8 World ranked One Day Cricket countries are participating in the Hong Kong World Cricket Sixes at Kowloon Cricket Club, this weekend Oct 28 and 29. The other two teams in the 8 team tournament are Hong Kong, and England’s famous Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC).
Day one has been a full day of cricket in beautiful sunshine with teams split into two groups playing round robin matches. Final positions at the end of play on Day-1: shows Pakistan top of Group A, winning all three matches to finish with 6 points, followed by South Africa (4), Hong Kong (2) and MCC (0). New Zealand Kiwis topped Group B with 2 wins and a better run rate than Bangladesh also holding 4 points, Australia is 3rd (2) and Sri Lanka 4th also on 2 points.
The format for tomorrows matches (Day 2) is Pakistan play MCC, New Zealand play Hong Kong, Bangladesh play Australia and South Africa play Sri Lanka. The top four teams will play in the Cup Semi-finals and the bottom 4 teams will play in the Plate semi-final, with winners of respective semi-finals moving to Cup and Plate finals.
Leading run scorer is the Australian Captain John Hastings that has scored maximum runs (33) in each of their three matches.
