Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has filed a lawsuit against a woman who accused him of sexual assault and demanded money in exchange for her silence.
Mr. Prescott’s lawyers filed the lawsuit on Monday in Collin County, Texas, accusing the defendant, identified as Victoria Shores, of extortion after her attorneys sent him a letter in January demanding $100 million to keep quiet about the alleged sexual assault.
“Despite the tragic events, she is willing to forgo pursuing criminal charges, along with disclosing this information to the public, in exchange for compensating her for the mental anguish she has suffered,” wrote lawyers Bethel Zehaie and Yoel Zehaie in the letter, which was included in Mr. Prescott’s court filings. “Ms. Shores damages are valued at $100,000,000.”
Lawyer Levi McCathern, who is representing the 30-year-old Pro Bowl player, said that the allegations are “completely fabricated” and part of an extortion plot.
“Lies hurt. Especially, malicious lies. We will not allow the defendant and her legal team to profit from this attempt to extort millions from Mr. Prescott.”
Mr. Prescott and his girlfriend, Sarah Jane Ramos, welcomed their first child together on Feb. 29. The couple resides with their new baby in Mr. Prescott’s 9,000-square-foot house on seven acres in Prosper, Texas, about 35 miles north of Dallas.
Mr. McCathern did not respond to The Epoch Times’ request for comment.
Following Monday’s filing, Ms. Zehaie responded by calling Mr. Prescott “a liar and a rapist.”
“We stand by the truth. Dak and his lawyers are trying to be bullies and play hardball and victim blame,” Ms. Zehaie continued. “[The woman] has had to attend therapy and endure trauma because of the sexual assault. This young lady was in absolute tears in my office. Dak needs to be held accountable for his behavior. We are not afraid of his legal team.”
Also on Monday, Mr. Prescott filed a police report against Ms. Shores with the Prosper Police Department for Attempted Theft by Coercion, The Epoch Times confirmed.
What Else Did the Letter Say?
Ms. Shores “became acquainted” with Mr. Prescott through her job, according to the letter from her legal team. The pair began communicating through social media, and Mr. Prescott allegedly invited the woman to “hang out” with him and some friends following his first season with the Cowboys.
The letter claims that the pair met up at a location in Plano where Ms. Shores got into Mr. Prescott’s SUV. The football player then allegedly directed her to the back row, where they sat together until they arrived at their destination.
“Ms. Shores did not want to engage in sexual intercourse and made sure to verbalize her wishes,” reads the letter.
“You further signaled to one of your entourage members to leave you and Ms. Shores alone. ... At this point, you used physical force and sexually assaulted Ms. Shores,” the letter continued.
The Epoch Times was unable to reach Ms. Shores’ lawyers.
Earlier this week, Ms. Shores said that she had not reported the incident out of fear.
“I was just scared of what he could do if he could ruin my life,” she told WFAA. “If I could get fired from where I was working. I don’t know him. I don’t know what he’s capable of, but I know he’s a big-time football player, and I know what’s happening now is exactly what I was afraid of.”
Ms. Shores added that she has received numerous threats since coming forward.
