A South Carolina mother of three shot a man who knocked down the door to her house in an attempted home invasion.
No one answered her but she heard people talking to each other so she grabbed her gun.
When she came back she saw a man knocking on her window.
“I yelled, ‘I have a gun, I will shoot you, get away from my house,’” Jones said.
Surveillance footage showed the man and his companion going to the back door and trying to enter that way but failed, so they circled around the front and the man kicked in the front door. That’s when Jones pulled the trigger.
“I would’ve killed him if I had to,“ she told Fox. ”If I didn’t have a weapon, I wouldn’t have been able to fight him off.”
Anderson County Sheriff Chad McBride praised Jones for protecting her family and house, noting that laws give homeowners the right to defend themselves and their property.
Suspect Arrested
The man was identified as Cecil Charles Parnell, 43.A sheriff’s office deputy gave Parnell first aid near the house after he was shot in the right shoulder.
A neighbor told deputies that Parnell and the woman he was with tried entering their home prior to going to Jones home the same morning. The female companion was not charged.
