The Sierra Fire is burning San Bernardino County on Tuesday afternoon and has jumped to 150 acres, officials said.
According to the U.S. Forest Service, the wildfire started at around 4 p.m. Tuesday, and it is spreading at a “moderate to rapid rate.”
It said there “are evacuations in place for residents along Glen Helen Road west of I-15.”
The fire is burning near Cajon Pass between Sierra Avenue and Glen Helen Parkway, according to CBS and ABC.
CBS reported that it broke out near 15 Freeway at Glen Helen.
Fire officials said that around a dozen homes might need to be evacuated due to the blaze.
The Interstate-15 freeway remains open, and evacuations have not yet been issued. A traffic advisory was issued.
The San Berardino Fire Department said on Twitter that bulldozers and a fire crew were requested on the scene.
“Aircraft are making good progress,” John Miller, spokesman for the U.S. Forest Service told the Los Angeles Times.
The fire is under investigation.
