THOUSAND OAKS, Calif.—Movie producer James Strong attended Shen Yun’s evening show at The Fred Kavli Theatre on March 14. “I saw it in an ad and told my daughter and granddaughter about it. They just had to come,” he said.
“The visual, the costumes were spectacular, the synchronization of the dancers was amazing, the acrobats were fabulous, the special effects were wonderful—You couldn’t beat this in a big budget movie!” he exclaimed.“It was fabulous! [Shen Yun] showed that if people are more observant of other people’s cultures and the good that they have—there would be no problems in the world.”
“[Shen Yun’s] blending of yesterday into the future was magnificent! The cultural legends and myths, the grace, the charm, and the politeness were just amazing,” he expressed.
“In this country, we’ve lost all that [traditional culture.] We’ve lost family values, we’ve lost responsibility, we’ve lost respect. This shows all of that and more.”
Indeed, for 5,000 years, the country prospered. However, after the communist takeover and its spread of atheism, all this traditional culture was systematically destroyed.
“In [ancient] China, the ordinary person is respectful of their elders. They honor their family, and they’re proud of their heritage. They carry the traditions on. We don’t do that here anymore,” he said.
“I think [Shen Yun] shows the genesis of that love and respect that young people in those days had for each other.”
