NISHINOMIYA, Japan—Mr. Hidetomo Mase, owner of an international law firm, is a Shen Yun fan who exclusively drove nearly 200 kms from Nagoya to Nishinomiya to see the Shen Yun performance. Shen Yun Performing Arts New York Company held its 2015 premiere in Japan at Nishinomiya’s Hyogo Performing Arts Center on the afternoon of April 15.
“The long-history traditional Chinese music is really very touching. Take erhu solo performance for instance. It’s very concise but very touching. Its sounds leave audience members feeling soothed. So, traditional Chinese music is more touching—it can touch our souls,” said Hidetomo Mase.
According to Shen Yun’s website, accentuating the beauty of ancient Chinese instruments amidst the grandeur of a Western symphony, the Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra draws on cherished ancient melodies and delightful musical styles to create a brand new, yet wonderfully familiar, experience.
Through the universal languages of music and dance, the New York-based Shen Yun brings 5,000 years of Chinese civilization to life.
Deeply impressed with the music played by Shen Yun Performing Arts Orchestra, Mr. Hidetomo said, “Shen Yun Performing Arts Orchestra perfectly blends traditional Chinese musical instruments and Western orchestral symphony. Though they belong to different music systems, they are coordinated extraordinarily well.”
As the owner of the international law firm that deals with matters regarding international human rights from time to time, Mr. Hidetomo has been concerned about human rights issues relatively more than ordinary people.
When it comes to the program depicting the truth that righteous power eventually triumphs over evil, he noted, “The most touching part is the dance portraying compassion versus evil [The Power of Compassion]. Faced with persecution, Falun Gong practitioners are still steadfast in their belief, and requite injustice with kindness peacefully. Eventually they changed the opposite party’s minds. It made us feel very strong and positive messages.”
“Though I came from afar, I feel it worthwhile to be here, as it is really very wonderful,” Mr. Hidetomo concluded.
