UDINE, Italy—China’s identity has been changing throughout its 5,000 years of history. Whether it was called the Tang or the Ming, its people were loyal to the seated emperor. However, in China today, the people and the Chinese Communist Party cannot be seen as one.
“I like very much how they are showing us an interesting view of the Chinese culture. It’s a look at the history—the very famous history of this wonderful country and what’s happening there right now,” said Mr. Cappello.
“I think they are the most interesting representation of the Chinese people around the world. Their valuable activity helps everyone outside China learn a little bit more on how wonderful their country is,” exclaimed Mr. Cappello.
“It’s already the second time I come here. I came last year and I’m here this year ... I think it’s quite interesting to see every year how it’s going to change. Every year, something is new,” he said.
“I already told them you have to come and see—you have to take part in this experience,” he said.
On the evening of January 31, Romina Fanin, an agronomist, came to see Shen Yun with her family.
We are here this evening to celebrate, thanks to my son, an event that is wonderful. I did not expect it to be so intense, so pungent in the soul—because it was very beautiful,” said Ms. Fanin.
“Artistically, these dancers are very, very good. When we talk about history, Chinese culture has remained in my heart, and I have gained a better understanding through this performance that is so beautiful,” said Ms. Fanin.
“I like classical music a lot. My son is 12 years old and is a fan of art, of culture,” said Ms. Fanin.
“From the two strings, there’s a variety of sounds that was incredible, and it hypnotized us. It was beautiful. So many new things that I discovered, and I really enjoyed it,” said Ms. Fanin.
“We always need salvation, so I welcome these words. I hope that they have entered people’s hearts and souls and that they take them into their everyday reality,” she said.
