ATLANTA—Not many people may associate the China of today with spirituality, but it was a place once known as the “Land of the Divine.”
That memory of China is one that New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts seeks to revive, and after seeing a performance, attorney Cornel Potra said he saw China’s spirituality come to life.
“I see the spiritual aspect of it. And what I see is that the people of China are loved by God. And what I see is that the people of China long for the true God,” said Mr. Botra on Dec. 26 at the Atlanta Symphony Hall.
Shen Yun, whose founding artists fled religious persecution by the Chinese communist regime, notes in its materials that its show cannot be seen in China today.
During its 75-year rule, the Chinese Communist Party launched routine violent revolutions like the Cultural Revolution, promoting atheism and materiality in place of China’s spiritual past. Despite that, millions in China have rediscovered their cultural heritage, and Shen Yun tells that story.
He said he would pray for them, and their search for freedom and to find the Creator.
He said Shen Yun was a “spectacular, great opportunity to mingle with the Chinese culture, and love of the culture, people of China.”
