NEW YORK—Shen Yun Performing Arts graced the stage at Lincoln Center on Saturday evening, Jan. 18, leaving the full house audience in awe of a presentation of 5,000 years of Chinese culture.
Classical Chinese dance, along with ethnic and folk dance, is at the heart of the performance. The dancers are adorned with handmade costumes and accompanied by state-of-the-art digital backdrops; an orchestra melds both classical Chinese and Western instruments.
The production as a whole impressed Bob Morris, a senior television producer at Channel 13 in New York.
“The theatricality of this production is just amazing,” he said. “I’ve never seen anything like it, the mix of animation with the dance—the integration of the two, it’s beautiful, you get really into the story what the dance is about.”
“The movement of the dancers, it’s just beautiful in ways that I have never seen before.”
The performances draw from different dynasties and time periods as they touch upon legends and stories from Chinese civilization, even up to present-day China.
Shen Yun has received standing ovations at the world’s top venues from diverse audiences that include star actors, fashion leaders, government VIPs, and international celebrities.
