DETROIT—Naga Narayana will be discussing with his friends about all the dance programs he saw in Shen Yun Performing Arts World Company performance. He feels it’s a good thing to experience something different. He and his wife, Geetha, thoroughly enjoyed the performance at the Detroit Opera House.
Shen Yun’s mission is to revitalize ancient and divinely inspired Chinese civilization and its virtues through the performing arts. This culture was almost completely destroyed by decades of Communist rule, particularly during the Cultural Revolution.
Through storytelling dance and music, Shen Yun sends the audience on a journey of 5,000 years of myths, legends, and history from ancient times to modern ones. The stories are enhanced by a live orchestra, dazzling costumes, and animated backdrops for each performance.
Mr. Narayana is the global manager for international company and particularly enjoyed the spiritual nature of Shen Yun.
“It’s quite vibrant and colorful,” he said. “And, it’s also one of the few dance programs which is spiritually oriented. Nowadays it’s very rare. I think it’s good for the psyche.”
“We really liked it. It’s really nice,” said Mrs. Narayana at intermission. “Very organized and well done.”
“For me, it touches my heart because of the Buddhas. The three principles: Truth, Compassion, Tolerance,” concluded Mr. Narayana.
