GLASGOW, UK—Company COO Ryszard Jedrzejewski and designer Audrey Thompson weren’t quite sure what to expect when they first entered the SEC Armadillo for Shen Yun Performing Arts’ third show in Glasgow.
Sharing their thoughts during intermission, they agreed that everything was simply lovely.
“I think this show is excellent. The dancers are very good and it’s just been fabulous so far,” Ms. Thompson said. “It’s been very artistic and it’s lovely. It’s just been a different experience. So, I’ve just enjoyed it all.”
Mr. Jedrzejewski was moved by the artists’ dedication and thought it was “really good to see a different cultural experience, [and] really understanding China’s people, heritage, and history.”
“I think it’s really important to understand history and what makes different cultures tick. If everybody’s the same it would be quite boring.”
“That was really good. … I think the mix of the dancing plus the animation was really powerful,” Mr. Jedrzejewski commented. The artistic level and technical skill of the dancers were “superb, amazing. So good.”
This was the duo’s first time seeing Shen Yun and they will definitely be recommending the performance to all their friends and family.
“Everything’s beautifully done through the movements and it’s just very, very special and in time. They’re excellent,” Ms. Thompson said. Mr. Jedrzejewski would like to urge the performers to “keep doing it” because “it’s amazing.”
“The level of physical fitness and the whole choreography—it’s incredible!”
For its 2025 touring season, Shen Yun’s eight equally-sized companies will be performing in over 200 cities across five continents. Met with wide acclaim since its establishment in 2006, the company can be expected to return each year with a brand-new set of choreography and musical compositions.
