DALLAS—Company Vice President Brian Davis and his wife Belinda Martin was thoroughly inspired by the beauty of Shen Yun Performing Arts after attending the company’s evening performance at the Music Hall at Fair Park on Jan. 24.

“The costumes and the dancers—they’re amazing,” Ms. Martin exclaimed. “I’m speechless. I’m completely blown away by the art, the beliefs, and the culture that’s being demonstrated. Really neat.”

She is in awe of the artists’ “interpretation of the arts and how the dancers really bring out the culture and everything within their performance.”

Mr. Davis, who was a thespian before going into sales, chimed in that he absolutely enjoyed the performance. “I like the choreography, the costumes. It’s been a really entertaining event, it’s been fun,” he said.

As one of the oldest civilizations in the world, China’s 5,000 years of history is filled with breathtaking legends and rich traditions. Yet, within just a few decades of the Chinese communists’ rise to power, this magnificent culture was destroyed.

The spread of atheism quickly eradicated Chinese people’s belief in the divine. The cherished virtues and values learned from the teachings of Buddhism, Daoism, and Confucianism disappeared overnight.

Today, the New York-based Shen Yun is working to revive this lost civilization and bring back to the world, through dance and music, the beauty of pre-communist China.

Reflecting back on the evening, Mr. Davis stated that “it has been very educational to see the culture and religious beliefs and how steadfast everyone is to their roots and their faith.”

Traditional Chinese culture “feels like it [shares] a lot of Christian values. I love that [the artists] are true to their belief and isn’t varying from what they believe in,” he expressed.

“I think that’s what took them out of China. It’s wonderful to see people stand up for what they believe in and create an event that carries on. I love it. It’s very cool.”

Though Shen Yun has met with a warm welcome around the world since its inception in 2006, due to the performers’ focus on reviving traditional culture and presenting the truth of events under communist rule in present-day China, it is currently forbidden by the regime from performing in China.

Mr. Davis commends the artists for their effort and added he would need some more time to process Shen Yun’s message because it’s “so significant, strong, and powerful.”

“It’s awesome. I love it. It speaks a lot to our time—people that are standing up for true values today. I believe it’s the right kind of values,” he said. “It’s really cool and inspiring. I’m just so proud of all of them.”
