Updated:

The beautiful Canadian city of Toronto will host Shen Yun Performing Arts at the Four Season Centre for the Performing Arts from March 29 to 30, and April 1, 2, and 4 through 6.

Theatergoers worldwide have applauded Shen Yun’s performance, and Toronto has joined in the praise when Shen Yun performed there last year.

For Conservative member of Parliament Anna Roberts, Shen Yun shares with all of Canada a story of “the struggles and the sacrifices that the Chinese people have made.”

“It also shows us that there is hope at the end of the day. I think anyone who watches the show will come away with that satisfaction. Absolutely beautiful,” she said.

Inspiring Message

Shen Yun is on a mission to revive the spiritual message of traditional Chinese culture and the beauty of China before communism.

Philanthropist Charles Hanna says he found deep inspiration in the beauty and hope expressed in Shen Yun and connected profoundly with the spiritual essence of the performance.

“I like it a lot because a lot of my philosophy in life is about spirituality and being connected to life, as you refer to it in the show as the divine,” he said.

Ukrainian-Canadian soprano Mira Solovianenko said, “I want to say I’m in love with this show. I’m really in love.”

“The underlying theme of the entire evening was love, joy, and peace. You could feel it, I could feel it in the entire performance. And yet, there were aspects of the performance that were high energy and beautifully inspiring as well,” said Nicky Billou, the founder of eCircle Academy.

“Many of the background stories are classical historical Chinese stories,” said Lihsin Liu, director general of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Vancouver. “That’s why a lot of people in mainstream Canadian society are actually very curious and emotional [upon seeing the show].”

“It’s beautiful to see people’s spiritual stories from different perspectives, [when] finding a tradition that resonates with you and trying to connect with a tradition of goodness, beauty, and truth,” said Leah Burley, owner and CEO of Warmland Dance.

Unique Orchestra

Music producer and former singer Kevin Carmen was enchanted by the live orchestra. “The mix, the blend, is amazing,” he said. “It’s really fun to hear [the Chinese instruments].”

Shen Yun performs with a live orchestra that combines traditional Chinese and Western instruments. Among the Chinese instruments is the erhu, a two-stringed instrument featured in a solo performance on stage.

“One of the things I really loved was the combination of Western music and Chinese music. I think those musicians were absolutely outstanding,” said Jean Clinton, a professor.

“Two strings, making all of that contrast [and] speed—unbelievable,” Ms. Clinton said. “I was blown away. Just really, really stunning.”

Ms. Clinton said she would recommend Shen Yun to everyone.
“If you can come and experience this, [you'll] experience the kindness, the truth, the reconciliation. As you look at that and immerse yourself, understand that Shen Yun is the expression, the movement, and the being of the body. You'll see just how marvelous the human spirit can absolutely be,” she said.

“I would absolutely, without a doubt, recommend it to all.”

This year, as Shen Yun is set to perform in over 200 cities around the world and across five continents, the 2025 touring season is shaping up to be the artists’ busiest yet and a glorious treat for theater goers.
