Ms. Lowes watched Shen Yun along with her husband, Zoltan Prohaszka, and their son, Barnabas Medgyesi. Mr. Prohaszka and Ms. Lowes own and operate a family business.
Mr. Prohaszka said he was very impressed by the solo performance of the erhu, a two-string instrument. “It was very impressive with only two strings. Only two strings,” he said.
Mr. Prohaszka said, “We are learning more about what’s going on there. I understand more because I grew up in a communist country. Hungary used to be communist. But now we are free. And hopefully, China is going to be free, too, one day.”
They were both deeply moved by Shen Yun’s efforts to open the world’s eyes.
Ms. Lowes enjoyed the singing as well, she said, “It hit home when I was reading the words of the songs that were being sung. The hope and the tradition and hold on to that, it really resonated with me.”
Ms. Lowes said that Shen Yun’s growth was outstanding. “I thought it was interesting just to learn that Shen Yun is here in New York, and the company has grown from one company to eight. It’s outstanding. The perseverance and hard work are paying off, obviously!”
