GLASGOW, UK— Holistic therapist Kate Marie Pritchard knew she had made the right decision bringing her family to Shen Yun’s evening performance at the SEC Armadillo on Feb. 28, when she saw the “inspiration and joy” light up her children’s faces as the curtain rose.
“It was just breathtaking and mesmerizing. It was an amazing experience— the flow of the dances, the choreography, the storytelling, and the small little stories all put together,” she exclaimed.
In 2006, Shen Yun was established in New York by artists dreaming of reviving China’s 5,000 years of divinely inspired culture.
To meet popular demand, Shen Yun has grown to include eight equally sized companies that tour the world simultaneously each year. The artists are slated to visit over 200 cities across five continents in 2025.
Ms. Pritchard found the program deeply healing and felt the energy pulsating through Shen Yun’s music.
Seeing the performers’ display of hope, belief, inspiration, and lots of different things in life—can help you move forward. It was just very, very surreal and very healing, she said.
“To hear [the music] of a nation and realize that you can actually instill hope in people that might have lost it at times. … It’s so healing for the soul.”
According to the company’s website, Shen Yun’s orchestra is the first in the world to permanently combine ancient Chinese and Western instruments.
“It was an amazing experience,” she said. “You felt very peaceful even though, at times, there was mayhem going on in the scenes. It was very peaceful and each scene ended beautifully.”
Ms. Pritchard is very excited to share her experience with friends and family. She wil be telling them that Shen Yun is “a walk through history.”
“Come and see it. It will inspire you. It will uplift you and you'll walk away with a massive smile on your face and feeling that there’s a lot of inspiration and hope still in the world.”
