LONG BEACH, Calif.—Professional photographer Tatyana O'Toole found this season’s performance of Shen Yun amazing. “Honestly, mesmerizing,” she said, after watching the performance at Terrace Theater in Long Beach on Saturday evening.

“The choreography is out of this world,” she said.

During the production, Ms. O’Toole was moved to tears, though she noted Shen Yun was joyful and beautiful.

“It was all just perfectly combined together,” she said. “It was just a perfect marriage in one amazing, beautiful performance.”

New York-based Shen Yun’s mission is to revive 5,000 years of Chinese civilization through music and dance and share with audiences China before communism—a key reason Shen Yun is banned from performing in China by the communist regime.
Ms. O’Toole also resonated with the spiritual side of the show.

“We all go to the same God,” she said. “We are the children of the one creator.”

Ms. O’Toole was moved by the ending, with the stage flooded in golden light.

“That was powerful,” she said. “I felt peace inside me. I felt very peaceful and very grateful. It was amazing.”

She will remember the performance for years to come.

“Everything was wonderful, beautiful, and colorful,” she said.
