Shen Yun Performing Arts is set to tour with an all-new production, with the first performance of the season in Nagoya, Japan, on Dec. 23.
For many audience members in Nagoya last year, seeing Shen Yun was a long-awaited dream come true.
“Our wish came true today,” said Mr. Tesuji, who saw the performance with his wife. He described the experience as “otherworldly and refreshing,” broadening his perspective on life.
“I experienced the long history of China [today,]” Mr. Tesuji said. “Shen Yun made me think that, to walk a righteous path in life, it is important to understand and treat others with empathy.”
Shen Yun’s mission is to revive 5,000 years of Chinese civilization—a China before communism—and audiences around the world often note they feel traditional values expressed through the art.
Matsuyama Hidekazu, an executive of a major construction company, said the beauty with which Shen Yun delivered traditional Chinese culture was simply mesmerizing.
“They are too beautiful to describe. I was very touched,” he said. “The messages were delivered in an easily understandable way. I felt very close to and relaxed when I received them.”
Hori Sachiko, a glass artist, said Shen Yun is “a collection of all the best arts.”
In addition to being renowned for classical Chinese dance, Shen Yun performs original compositions with a unique orchestra that incorporates ancient Chinese instruments, utilizes patented backdrop technology to extend the stage infinitely, creates couture costumes based on traditional Chinese dress for each performance, and much more.
“The performance is very interesting—everybody must see it for themselves,” she said.
“My heart is very calm, and my mind is very clear now. I strongly felt that we should not lose to evil,” said Mr. Nishimori.
