NEW YORK CITY—Alex Spyropoulos felt compassion conveyed through the dance and music of Shen Yun Performing Arts, and a beauty deeper than the visual.
“What I love about it is the dancing, but also the compassion,” Mr. Spyropoulos, a doctor, said after seeing Shen Yun at Lincoln Center on April 5 with Jelena Spyropoulos.
“The compassion, what you realize is all the deep religions of the world have compassion, have love and compassion. That’s what that shows us. It’s the compassion between people, between humans. That’s what it talks about. And beautiful dancing,” he said.
“One of the most beautiful shows I’ve seen in a long, long time. God bless them.”
Mr. Spyropoulos agreed; he'd felt transported as well.
“You notice that all the old cultures have a lot of tradition, have a lot of history, have a lot of love, you know, have a lot of mythology,” he said. “This is universal.”

Also moved by the beauty of the dance and spiritual values was Emina Tabakovic, a vice president of health operations, who saw the performance with her three children.
“For me, it was the dance of the cosmos,” Ms. Tabakovic said. “I was very happy. It was giving joy. It was giving like a rush, like full of energy.”
“The show is absolutely amazing,” she said. “Stunning. I highly recommend it.”
