Shen Yun Shows ‘Light and Goodness’ in Ogden

OGDEN, Utah—With tears in her eyes, Susanne Lindsay spoke of immense gratitude for the music and dance company that illuminated the “most important part of life.”

I didn’t know what we were coming to see, but I am so grateful!“ Mrs. Lindsay said of Shen Yun Performing Arts at the Val A. Browning Center on Dec. 26. ”Oh, it was beautiful.”

New York-based Shen Yun shows the traditional Chinese culture: a divinely inspired, 5,000-year-old civilization. Mrs. Lindsay had been fascinated with China “forever, and was thrilled to be able to see something about the real culture of China.”

She said she would remember “the spirit of it.” She would remember how deeply the spirituality of the culture resonated with her personal beliefs, of an afterlife and a Creator.

“The spirituality is touching ... It moved me greatly,” Mrs. Lindsay said.

Jan Healy, a missionary, found the performance enlightening, “heavenly, divine.”

She found beauty in every aspect of the performance and the unexpected pleasure of discovering a light that transcends cultures in the stories.

“I think people everywhere are searching for light and goodness and I saw that in this [performance],” Ms. Healy said. “I think that’s what this was about—bringing light and hope and goodness.”

New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts has four touring companies that perform simultaneously around the world. For more information, visit Shen Yun Performing Arts.
