Vancouver, British Columbia, is enthusiastically awaiting the all-new season of Shen Yun Performing Arts on April 9 through 13 at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre.

Around the world, audiences have appreciated the positive message and great entertainment that Shen Yun presented and Vancouver joined the world in their applause.

“Absolutely flawless performance,” said Adam Pappin, an attorney at Pappin Law.

As one of the oldest civilizations in the world, with a deeply spiritual foundation, China’s 5,000 years of history are filled with breathtaking legends and rich traditions.

“Many of the background stories are classical historical Chinese stories. That’s why a lot of people in mainstream Canadian society are actually very curious and emotional [upon seeing the show],” said Lihsin Liu, director general of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Vancouver.

Leah Burley, owner and CEO of Warmland Dance, said, “It’s beautiful to see people’s spiritual stories from different perspectives, I think, [when] finding a tradition that resonates with you and trying to connect with that tradition and goodness, beauty, truth.”

“It’s nice to talk about some of the issues that are affecting China. I love the use of art to talk about these issues because it’s not just pointing a finger,” Dave Gale, who works in sales at Queen Elizabeth Theatre, said.

Alexandra Black, a retired banking executive, said the “concept of freedom” Shen Yun expressed spoke to her heart and soul.

“[It’s] an energetic message of beauty and divine and caring, and sharing in one humanity. We all have the same spirit, and we all have the same soul,” she said. “I think it’s in the music, it’s in the kindness, and it’s in the facial expression of all the people. It’s undeniable. The energy comes across.”

“The storytelling and the connection between the dancers and the audience, you can tell that obviously they trained so hard, but it looks so phenomenally easy on stage. And the connections they make, and just the amount of joy they can share with the audience—it’s phenomenal to watch,” said Jenna Gorchynski, an actor with HectiQ Artists.

Mike England, a CEO in the mining industry, said the beauty of the performance “brought a tear to my eye at times.”

“It’s good to show everyone what has happened over the years,” he said. “It’s showing what the history and the traditions have been. And it was doing it in the most beautiful way.”

“The big part is what’s going on in the world. Some parts of the world don’t allow people to enjoy the beauty,” administrator Nasim Kalantari said. “That’s the sad part.”

Business owner Dave McCammon said the message he will be taking home with him is that “the old traditions are being lost, and we’re going into a spiral in the downward way if we’re not following in the direction of the traditions.”

“It’s an important message,” he added. “We need to stick to the traditional ways and not fall off the path into the way that we’re headed.”

Financial advisor Keivan Nasirnia said, “It’s 100 percent perfect. I highly recommend it to everyone to watch it at least once.”
