ATLANTA—Mauricio and Carolina Moreno were in attendance for Shen Yun Performing Arts at Atlanta’s Cobb Energy Centre on Dec. 28.
“Excellent. Beautiful ... Beautiful people. Dresses are spectacular. Beautiful colors,” said Mr. Moreno, who owns a small business. “And the music is amazing.”
“For 5,000 years divine culture flourished in the land of China. Humanity’s treasure was nearly lost, but through breathtaking music and dance, Shen Yun is bringing back this glorious culture,” reads Shen Yun’s website.
“I love it. Excellent, excellent,” Mr. Moreno said. “I was trying to come many years ago, at least I could be here today.” He added that since it’s his birthday, the opportunity to experience Shen Yun was the perfect birthday gift.
“So, perfect show,” he said.
The music of Shen Yun combines the spirit and distinctiveness of Chinese music with the power and precision of a Western orchestra. “The result,” according to Shen Yun’s website, “two great traditions producing one refreshing sound.”
“And some instruments that I don’t know too much but listen to are beautiful, so I like the music a lot,” added Mr. Moreno, who attended the show with his wife.
“The show was amazing,” she said. “The orchestra was incredible. The soprano was amazing.”
The singers of Shen Yun sing in the highly difficult bel canto technique.
“Excellent show, and I’m going to recommend [it] to all to my friends,” concluded Mr. Moreno. “So that’s beautiful. Music and everything.”
