SEATTLE—It was the third time for Pastor Rex Chade to watch a Shen Yun performance. “It was exceptional, I mean more than exceptional. Very impressive! It needs to be a part of your life experience,” he said at the Marion Oliver McCaw Hall on April 5.

Based in New York, Shen Yun Performing Arts is the world’s premier classical Chinese dance company, founded by Chinese artists who wish to revive traditional Chinese culture through dance and music.

“I know that to perform like that takes a long time of discipline and hard work, excellent instruction, and obedience to it,” Mr. Chade said. “It’s physical, it’s mental, it’s emotional, it’s spiritual. I can see that, and the dedication is ... It’s got to be a lot of work and a major commitment. So I can appreciate that.”

Mr. Chade also resonated with the messages conveyed, “It was overwhelming. I’m completely convinced that the show conveys the heart of our Heavenly Father in a way that everyone can appreciate, no matter where they are in their relationship with Him.”

With regard to Shen Yun’s mission of presenting the world the beauty and goodness of China’s traditional culture, Mr. Chade said, “It is the most important thing in life. That’s how valuable it is to bring back the traditions. And [Shen Yun] is really more than traditions. It has to do with a conscious awareness of the spirit realm and an unconditional love.”

“We need that more than anything, throughout the world,” he said.

Mr. Chade was inspired by Shen Yun to “strive to do better at what you do.”

He said, “I learned that these performers are at their best. I can do better to be at my best.”

“I’m greatly encouraged, and I was telling myself I can still learn. I can still get better. I am very encouraged by what I see,” he said.

Mr. Chade would love to see more people come and watch the show.

“I would say that it is an experience that I’ve not received in any other way, and so that’s what makes this both unique and valuable. It needs to be a part of your life experience.”

He said that the connection to spirituality “is in everything if our eyes are open and our hearts are open to see.”
