CHICAGO—Sean Boston, the marketing director of an international hardware company, enjoyed the second of Shen Yun’s three-weekend performances at the Harris Theater on April 13. He was accompanied by his wife, Claudia, who is a model.
“A very exciting performance. Unbelievable. It’s definitely a must-see event.”
Having traveled to China before, Mr. Boston said the show “definitely brings back a lot of positive memories.”
Based in New York, Shen Yun artists are highly trained in classical Chinese dance. Dating back thousands of years, it is one of the most athletic and expressive art forms in the world.
Shen Yun’s goal is to revive and bring back to the world stage the culture and traditional values of China before communism.
“It was very emotional. I think the colors and the lighting bring out the many emotions that we have inside. So, it’s very exciting. Very good,” he stated.
“The quality is exceptional. The dancers are eloquent. They’re fantastic, and the choreography is very impressive. [Shen Yun] is not just a performance, they are actually engaged—you can feel the empathy that they’ve displayed.”
In terms of the divine element of the performance, Mr. Boston believes that the message varies from person to person.
“Whatever your spiritual belief is, you can feel that positive energy. It’s definitely a positive undertone.”
In the finale dance piece depicting the Creator coming down from the heavens to save mankind in a time of trouble, Mr. Boston said it’s “a positive image of someone bringing peace and prosperity to all.”
“I feel fantastic and exhilarated.”
