OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla.—Vince Orza, dean of the Meinders School of Business at Oklahoma City University, and president and CEO of KSBI Television, found Shen Yun Performing Arts’ presentation of classical Chinese dance and music to be terrific.
“The grace, athleticism, spectacular orchestra, beautiful costumes and color, it’s just a great introduction to the history of China,” Mr. Orza said.
Throughout his career, Mr. Orza has held a number of academic positions, worked as a TV anchor, and held a number of executive position, including founding and leading a public company operating restaurants all across the U.S.
Mr. Orza watched Shen Yun at the Civic Center Music Hall on March 25.
Based in New York, Shen Yun aims to revive China’s divinely inspired culture through performing arts.
Mr. Orza said Shen Yun’s portrayal of China’s history and culture is “very inviting,” and said the performance is colorful and very enjoyable, and the music, performed by the Shen Yun Orchestra is wonderful.
“I think the orchestration of the program, the choreography of the program is just inspiring, it’s wonderful to see,” Mr. Orza said.
“There is a great energy on the stage, and the same time there is a spectacular gracefulness of all the dancers, and it’s really fun to watch.”
At the heart of Shen Yun is Chinese dance, which, according to the Shen Yun website, “known for its incredible flips and spins, and its gentle elegance, it is one of the most rigorous and expressive art forms in the world.”
Shen Yun, Mr. Orza said, provides “a great introduction for the West to see traditional classical Chinese dance.”
He also praised the performance of Shen Yun vocalists, who use the bel canto style to sing Chinese lyrics.
“[The vocalists] have some beautiful voices there; just a terrific look and sound … and I think the entire audience is really enjoying the program,” he said.
