SALFORD, United Kingdom—The precision, beauty, and elegance of Shen Yun’s performers left a deep impression on businessman Mark Ambrose, who watched Shen Yun at The Lowry Salford on April 19.

Being semi-retired from the media and communications industry, he has seen a lot of performances, but nothing quite like Shen Yun.

“It’s an incredible, moving performance,” he said. “I haven’t seen anything like it before ever and probably never will.”

At the heart of a Shen Yun performance is classical Chinese dance, a deeply expressive art-form passed down over 5,000 years of China’s rich history.

Shen Yun’s dancers work not only on perfecting their physical movements—which include dramatic leaps, flips, and spins—but also the inner feeling required to portray the values and characters in stories from Chinese history, myth, and legend right up to the present day.

Ambrose was touched by the way the dancers moved together in harmony, and by the different stories brought alive on stage.

“Just amazing synchronicity and very moving, powerful themes,” Ambrose said. “It summons up many emotions, because there are so many different themes covered.”

He enjoyed his journey through China’s history and said that Shen Yun inspired him to learn more about traditional Chinese culture.

“It was absolutely amazing, beautiful, uplifting, and moving, and joyous, and elegant, and stylish ... how many words can you use to describe it?” Ambrose said.

The dance, together with Shen Yun’s live orchestra that blends Eastern and Western instruments, made it a night Ambrose will always remember.

He left the performance moved and happy, “happy to have seen such a wonderful performance.”
