NEW YORK—Shen Yun Performing Arts has since 2006 taken the mission of reviving 5,000 years of civilization. It was a divinely inspired culture that was nearly destroyed by communism, and audiences around the world say it is more universal than not.
“This is an expression of humankind,” said Carlos Lopez, a business owner, after the matinee performance at Lincoln Center on April 9.
“We are a mix between spirituality and reality. I’m very honored to be here. It’s a blessing for me to see the show, the performance, the colors, the ladies are beautiful, the men are very flexible—very strong. It’s wonderful. It’s a present for the world. Around me, there are a lot of people celebrating happy birthdays. ... I would say it’s an expression of culture and love for humankind.”
Mr. Lopez felt uplifted in many ways.
“I have more energy right now. My spirit is higher because of the energy of the show itself. It’s very reflective of humans, of passion, of dance, and love. It’s beautiful. Beautiful.”
“The show reflects what we are as human beings. It reflects the fantasy and the reality at the same time,“ he said. ”The colors, the costumes are wonderful. The women are beautiful—gorgeous. The men are strong, the men are flexible. The lady was singing with her heart, and this is absolutely beautiful. This is a reflector to being present on the earth.”
“The story is beautiful, and it’s full of love and it’s like we are navigating through Heaven when you go through the stories. It’s amazing; it’s love itself. It’s creation,” he said.“I believe it’s full of spiritual meaning for everybody. We have to love one to each other. We have to tell a story, we have to preserve our culture, and we have to share the culture, like this moment,” he said.
