ROME—Having been to China before, Valeria Mittinberga and Giancarlo Pagli have seen their fair share of Chinese performances. However, they noted that Shen Yun Performing Arts was very different from their past experiences.
“Very different. [Shen Yun] is a world that would seem to have disappeared,” Ms. Mittenberga, a public executive, said.
Shen Yun is based in New York and its artists are trained in classical Chinese dance, one of the most comprehensive dance systems in the world.

“[Shen Yun] is a show of great emotional impact, great artistic skills,” Ms. Mittenberga stated.
“And athletic, too,” Mr. Pagli, a private executive, added.
“It reveals a world that is so far from our Western style, but [Shen Yun] shows us that it is very powerful and beautiful,” Ms. Mittenberga stated.
“Traditions are always something that should not be lost, least of all for this. It is a knowledge, a cultural background,” Mr. Pagli said.
“Giving attention to the persecution that currently exists is important because these are aspects that don’t come up,” Ms. Mittenberga said.
“Very good and very different music from ours, but beautiful. We appreciate the beauty, the precision,” Ms. Mittenberga said.
“The ability to interact with the set, going in and out in a very natural and precise way, that was extraordinary,” Ms. Mittenberga said.
