LONG BEACH, Calif.—Leadership expert Sergio Gascon, a former leadership program director at the University of Southern California, thought Shen Yun Performing Arts was fantastic when he attended its matinee at the Terrace Theater on March 31.
“The show is amazing. It’s just a reminder of the beauty of culture and life. [It lets us] know that the times we live today—much of that is very restricted in many forms,” he said.
“So, to see [the world] again in its purity, it’s wonderful.”
Its artists are seeking to revive the glory of China’s 5,000 years of history and share with the world—through a series of short dance pieces—all that is good and beautiful.
“It’s much needed throughout the world and especially in today’s time. Hopefully, we can continue to fight for it and to retain it, and to keep it in its form—that it is now,” he said, referring to the divine element of the show.
“It is wonderful. It’s just purity. I enjoy something that’s simple and wonderful— just beautiful. It’s a reminder that we need to keep things simple and pure,” he stated.
“The music is very inspirational and wonderful. They’ve done an amazing job of connecting it with the performance and the storytelling.”
Seamlessly blending the grandeur of Western orchestration with the ethereal beauty of Chinese melodies, Shen Yun musicians produce a profound emotional range that captures the depth of the human experience.
A spiritual person himself, Mr. Gascon thought it was a very special and wonderful thing to be able to attend Shen Yun on Easter Day. The whole performance was very thought-provoking.
The message he’ll be taking home from the matinee is that “we need to be thankful. We need to continue to be inspired by hope and come together as one country, as one world.”
