VANCOUVER, Canada— With the world today saturated with different art and entertainment forms in a variety of different media, a performance has to offer something really special to elicit the kind of comments and praise that Shen Yun Performing Arts earns from its audience members, such as what Colin Burrows had to say after watching a performance at Vancouver’s Queen Elizabeth Theatre on Saturday afternoon: “I think it’s absolutely wonderful, it’s brilliant.”

Now in its 10th year, Shen Yun has become a global phenomenon that is captivating audiences all around the world with its revival of traditional art forms, enhanced by exciting artistic innovations, according to the program book.

The classical Chinese dance and music company is based in New York, where it enjoys the artistic freedom to pursue its mission to revive China’s divinely inspired culture.

Mr. Burrows, a provincial police officer, said the performance taught him both about China’s history and the situation in China today.

The impact became all the more impressive given the masterful performances of Shen Yun artists who train in classical Chinese dance.

“The choreography and the talent of the dancers, they’re so agile … I thought it was all wonderful,” Mr. Burrows said.

Another audience member, Stephen Dennis, who owns a resort in Tofino, British Columbia, was inspired by the performance, which he found to be very genuine.

“I love it … I got a lot out of it. I loved the dancing; the music was first class,” he said.

“I think it’s an excellent way to depict the different times and dynasties,” Mr Dennis added.

“It’s absolutely fantastic.”
