ATLANTA—A pair of good friends saw the Shen Yun Performing Arts matinee on Dec. 29. 

Ron Irvin said, “The whole thing has impressed me. Every performance, the dancing, and the choreography, everything has been fantastic—it really has.”

“My wife, and my friend Mr. Brisendine here, and his wife, all of us came together,” he said. It was their first time at a Shen Yun  performance.

Mr. Brisendine said that Shen Yun’s artist’s purpose resounded most significantly with him.

He said, “It’s good, very good.” 

When the show started, he said to himself, “Hm, I wonder what route this is going to take?” During the opening dance, he said he was trying to see how Shen Yun was connected to the current communist regime of China. 

Then “I said, no, no, no, no—this is about the culture of China.” 

He said he has done a little study of China, and he knew how Chinese culture was suppressed and damaged during the Cultural Revolution. When he understood that Shen Yun intends to revive the 5,000-year-old civilization, “It was awakening,” he said.

“I enjoyed it,” said Mr. Brisendine. “I didn’t know there was a group of performers of Chinese origin who are still pushing to get some of their cultural beliefs back. I think it’s marvelous, I really do.”

The two friends were happy to have experienced Shen Yun. Mr. Irvin said, “The show has been fantastic. Unbelievable, very good, very good.”
