PITTSBURGH—Seeing Shen Yun Performing Arts, Ron Fletcher thought it an eye-opening experience suitable for everyone.

“It’s beautiful,” said Mr. Fletcher, a commissioning manager, after seeing Shen Yun at The Benedum Center for the Performing Arts in Pittsburgh on April 26. “[It was] entertaining, energetic. I loved it.”

New York-based Shen Yun is the world’s premier classical Chinese dance company, with a mission to revive 5,000 years of Chinese civilization.
The program consists of more than a dozen vignettes that include story-based dances, ethnic and folk dances, musical solos, and so on, which Mr. Fletcher enjoyed.

“Every little piece of script tells a story. I’m learning little by little by little,” Mr. Fletcher said.

Mr. Fletcher said it was an eye-opening experience that he would recommend.

“It’s a beautiful experience, and you must not miss it. If you don’t travel, this is just like traveling. If you do not travel, you only read one page of your book. And this opens many eyes,” he said.

Mr. Fletcher values education, and said that when he retires in four years, he will volunteer as a teacher for Chinese children who cannot afford international schools.

In Shen Yun, he saw the contrast between China before and after communism, and added that education is also an important component for change.

“One day, one day, we'll all change. But only education can help us change everything,” he said.
