VIENNA, Austria—The Wiener Stadhalle, Viennese City Hall, the largest Austrian convention center, hosted the 2016 Shen Yun performances on April 5 and 6, just as it had in prior years.
Many in the audience saw Shen Yun perform for the first time when the curtains opened this season.
As promised on its website, Shen Yun is reviving 5,000 years of Chinese culture, forgotten during the country’s Cultural Revolution.
“Shen Yun weaves a wondrous tapestry of heavenly realms, ancient legends, and modern heroic tales, taking you on a journey through 5,000 years of Chinese culture. Its stunning beauty and tremendous energy leave audiences uplifted and inspired,” according to Shen Yun.
Professor of Art and Culture: ‘I did not dare to breathe’
“I’m so fortunate to see this breathtaking performance. It was so fascinating that at times I did not dare to breathe,” said professor of art and culture, Gerlinde von Spannring.
“I am at loss of words to describe what I felt throughout the performance,” she said.
Although she has traveled worldwide and attended many performances, she said, “This is the first time I have seen something this wonderful. Chinese culture is beautiful, and I regret that I had not studied it in the past.”
Shen Yun must “be seen more than once, or one can’t absorb all what one has seen. Tomorrow has another performance that I won’t miss.”
Publisher of Forgotten Books: Shen Yun’s Message is of Great Value
“A high degree of professionalism! It has been so long since I have seen a performance that displays such a high level of professionalism,” said Mr. Albert Eibl. Mr. Eibl owns a publishing house that brings back forgotten books.
Shen Yun’s message was received with open ears and eyes, said Mr. Eibl. “My mind was told of kindness, cosmopolitanism, tolerance for all cultures, and that one should accept others’ traditions. Such a message is of great value, especially since it can teach Westerners to return to traditional values.”
Mr. Eibl was certain to start looking for tickets for the 2017 Shen Yun performances and said, “I definitely won’t miss next year’s Shen Yun performance.”
Honorary Kommerzialrat: Beyond Our Expectations
Mr. Ernst introduced himself as Senator Kommerzialrat [Councilor of Commerce] Burkhard Ernst, who also owns a company. These are honorary titles, awarded by the University Salzburg for outstanding contributions to society.
“This performance came as a surprise to my wife and myself. Actually, we had certain expectations. Yet what we saw tonight was beyond these expectations. It was a terrific and fantastic performance and is far above anything we could have imagined,” said the Senator.
Shen Yun was intriguing to the couple, who had never been so fascinated by a performance before. They were of one mind when they explained the message of the performance, which was the value of friendship, cooperation throughout the world, and finding the goodness in life.
“It was magical,” said Ms. Ernst. “It brought to me a magical tale that life is beautiful, which is only seen and heard by small children.”
Overall, she heard that “goodness always wins over evil.”
