COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Richard O’Brien and Jennifer Bisset felt swept up in the beauty of Shen Yun Performing Arts after attending the March 28 performance at the Pikes Peak Center for the Performing Arts.
“Fabulous. They make it look effortless,” said Ms. Bisset, a retired attorney. “They make it look easy, yes. I’m going to jump in the air on the way home.”
“The music sped up, they sped up, the moves were faster, but they’re always on the beat. It was amazing. Yeah, always amazing,” he said.
Mr. O'Brien thought the production quality was “fabulous,” referencing the unique East-West blend of the orchestra and the innovative use of a digital backdrop.
“And it’s great to see the live orchestra in the pit. You know, it’s not just recorded,” he said. “And I think the way that they are able to transition from live dancing onto the screen and then back again, it’s fabulous.”
“Even though they can’t do this in China, it’s great that they can still do it in America, and I hope that they can continue to do it in America for a long time, to show us and bring another part of the world,” he said. “It’s great to see others bringing their culture around for us to participate in.”
“It’s a good experience just to watch and be part of, and so it makes me feel happy to be part of a group of people who are here to be happy,” he said.
“They seem to really love what they do,” she added.
Mr. O'Brien wanted to encourage them on their journey. “Pass the tradition along to others. Keep learning and teaching,” he said.
