The revival and showcase of traditional Chinese culture through classical dance and music was warmly embraced by the audience.
“It was wonderful. I was so moved, and I felt a sense of joy and excitement that I had never felt before. I was really moved,” said Keiko Nishida, a hospital affairs director.
“The dancing, the costumes, the costume changes, the artists were all so fast,” said Yasunori Furukawa, a company president. “And the backdrop, when the artists jumped and shot up into the sky, it was amazing.”
“I don’t think people in China today can really understand [tradition] anymore. But when we see this, we see the true beauty of China from long ago, and because a lot of history and culture has come from China, we can really relate to that aspect,” Shigeharu Nozawa, a company president, said.
“Traditional culture is something that can only be found in [China]. And if you cherish it, you are in a sense cherishing your own country as well,” said Ryofumi Nakaoka, a company president.
“It would be the end if [traditional culture] is lost, so I think it is great that they are really being built up and that there are people who are willing to carry on such a tradition. I was very, very moved,” said Hiroko Doi, a company director.
“I believe that making use of the accumulated knowledge and experiences of our predecessors is extremely important, whether in Japan or China,” said Ikko Horikawa, company founder and president.
