BERLIN, Germany—Dr. Lidia Herrmann a senior physician in an intensive care unit, said she'd waited a long time to see Shen Yun Performing Arts.

“I have waited three and a half years, and yes, I’m here,” she said.

Dr. Herrmann and her daughter Elona Streicher, were at the Guest Performance at Deutsche Oper Berlin for Shen Yun’s matinee on March 29.

Shen Yun is a classical Chinese dance and music company that tours the globe each year, mesmerizing audiences with its exhilarating dance performances.

Shen Yun is based in New York and its singers are trained to sing in the traditional bel canto style.

It was the spiritual nature of the translated words of the songs and some story dance pieces which were memorable for Dr. Herrmann.

“Those songs they sang are full of divine and spiritual thoughts,” she said.

“We are all divine beings, and we have to find our way back to God. That’s the main thing in our lives. That is the purpose,” she said.

“The last dance with the king was very spiritual and really graceful,” she said.

Her soul, she said was “filled with beautiful emotions—joy, admiration, excitement.”

“It’s just so great,” she said.

“I will definitely come back next year. It was beautiful, moving of course, but also thought-provoking,” she added.

‘Brilliant and Breathtaking’

Annika Müller, a designer at a creative agency, also attended the matinee Shen Yun performance at Deutsche Oper Berlin.
As a designer, Müller felt there was so much creative work displayed in Shen Yun, “I work daily with colors and forms and today I am immersed into another world once again,” she said.

She shared her thoughts on Shen Yun saying “Incredible! It was so brilliant and breathtaking. The luminosity of the clothes and the interaction with the background, the digital immersion of the artists—I am overwhelmed! That was terrific!”

The beautiful animated backdrops, on the stage, interact with the dancers using patented technology.

It was a combination of Shen Yun’s creative effects that brought out Müller’s emotions, she appreciated the energy coming from the stage and she felt “like being in another world!”

She felt “quite free and cheerful and that is great, especially during this time,” she said in reference to current affairs.

Müller summed up her Shen Yun experience after the performance.

“That was great, this journey through history. I myself have not yet dealt with the Chinese culture, but I got a good impression through this journey through time,” she said.

Müller wants her colleagues to see Shen Yun.

“You really have to see this for yourself ... It is really on many levels just very inspiring,” she said.
