KEELUNG, Taiwan—Shen Yun Performing Arts launched its highly anticipated 2025 Taiwan tour with a sold-out performance at the Keelung Performing Arts Center on March 20. The tour will feature 33 shows across eight major cities in Taiwan.

Taiwan’s President Lai Ching-te, Keelung Mayor George Hsieh Kuo-liang, and other central and local officials sent floral tributes, congratulating Shen Yun on the success of its performance.

Shen Yun is an incredible arts company,” said Keelung City Councilor, Hong Sen-yong, who praised the performance highly.
Shen Yun is based in New York, and its mission is to revive 5,000 years of Chinese civilization.

“The performance is truly magical—everything from the costumes and dance to the expressions shows the dedication of the Shen Yun team. I hope all of our friends in the arts community come to see it.”

“Shen Yun’s magical performance not only showcases incredible skill and artistry but also presents profound folk stories that teach values like loyalty, righteousness, and filial piety. Through these dances, our children can learn these important virtues,” Mr. Hong added.

On the eve of the Shen Yun performance, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) attempted to disrupt the event by issuing a false bomb threat to the theater. However, their efforts were once again unsuccessful, as the performance went ahead as planned and the venue was sold out.

“We saw that the audience was unaffected ... In fact, the show was completely sold out, and everyone was fully engaged in the performance” Mr. Hong said.

It is no surprise that Shen Yun cannot perform in China today, and seeing the fifth and sixth floors of the venue completely filled, Mr. Hong said, “It’s a loss for those in China who can’t experience such high-quality art.”

“I was deeply moved. The atmosphere is uplifting. Every time a performer steps on stage, it’s like a light shining through. Seeing it in person, I can say it’s unlike any other show I’ve seen,” said Pai Peichi, deputy director of the Thai Chinese Business and Trade Association and executive director of the World Federation of Chinese Traders Association.

Classical Chinese dance is a demanding art form. From the bearing, form, and technique to the tumbling and flexibility involved, every dancer on Shen Yun’s stage has worked endlessly to perfect their art.

“I could feel this radiant energy. The dancers seemed to lift off the ground with amazing flexibility. It’s incredible to think about the amount of training it takes to achieve that,” Ms. Pai said.

China was once known as the land of the divine, and in Shen Yun, there is nothing lacking in the portrayal of beauty and reverence in divinity.
“It’s as if the entire group is about to lift off, and it’s not just one person—it’s the whole ensemble in perfect harmony. That’s extremely difficult. ... Honestly, without divine power, this wouldn’t be possible. There are many performances worldwide, but Shen Yun’s performers stand out—it’s truly remarkable,” Ms. Pai said.

“This is an amazing performance,” said Lin Shin-hsiung, director-general, Keelung City Police Bureau.

Shen Yun’s artists are trained in classical Chinese dance, one of the most comprehensive dance systems in the world.

“The show was outstanding, and the dancers are extremely talented. It’s evident that the troupe has put a lot of effort into their training, both in dance, culture, and artistry,” Mr. Lin said.

Shen Yun’s live orchestra is a unique combination of traditional Chinese instruments and a classic Western ensemble.

“The orchestra was impressive. Excellent coordination among the instruments, and the live experience was truly immersive,” Mr. Lin said.

Shen Yun’s singers are trained in bel canto technique, and the digital backdrop provides a translation of the Chinese text being sung.

“The vocalists delivered a rich and powerful performance,” Mr. Lin added.

Shen Yun’s performance takes the audience on a journey that begins with Creation and continues to modern-day China.

“Even though there are different storylines, they all focus on the goodness of human nature and our true character. Each part really resonated with me, highlighting the importance of protecting kindness and promoting freedom. These are the truths we should all strive for in life. They’re the values we, as a free and democratic country, should pursue,” Mr. Lin said.

Regarding the CCP’s bomb threat intended to disrupt the Shen Yun performance, Mr. Lin said, “Everyone’s freedom and safety are things we need to protect—that’s our job. In Taiwan, Shen Yun will be safe and protected.”
