PARIS, France—On Wednesday April 26, Mrs. Arboux, a lawyer, attended Shen Yun Performing Arts with her family at the Palais des Congrès in Paris.
“That’s what I was saying to my daughters earlier on: it’s very much in line with Christianity. Truth, goodness, patience, in those three words, there is everything, no need for anything else.”
For Mrs. Arboux, the connection to the divine expressed in many of the danced narratives can be explained: “In the 1960s Larousse dictionary, it is indicated that the Chinese emperors were the sons of heaven. At the beginning of the show, we can see this great white angel, this savior.
Aurélie Velgue, a company legal director, attended a performance with her family to discover the best of classical Chinese dance and music.
“It is a relevant subject that touches us today. We understand there can be suffering—of not being able to live one’s faith as one would like. That can be a source of a lot of suffering.”
She added, “Regardless of religions, traditional cultures are what make a people’s wealth!”
“It was very powerful,” she said, commenting on the content of the lyrics. “It’s important to live by them [the traditional values] in a modern society, as well as to keep these human values alive because that is what actually makes us good and caring human beings!”
