PARIS—John Lange, a museum director and entrepreneur, said he couldn’t stop smiling after seeing Shen Yun Performing Arts.
“I felt enormous joy and uplift and an amazing feeling at the end of it, and I’m still feeling it now,” Mr. Lange said at the Palais des Congrès de Paris on April 6.
“I think it was a feast not just for the senses but for your soul, and I think it’s much more than just a performance. It’s something which goes from the performers to the audience, and the audience feels totally immersed in what is being performed.”
“I loved being able to engage with the story, the history, the dance being sort of swept along with the music and the movement and that whole combination of both music and dance and song, all coalesces together, and it creates an amazing experience,” he said.
“I felt something happened to me. I felt lighter. I felt an enormous sense of joy and happiness. And I can’t explain it, but it just happens,” he said. “And as you can see, I’m still grinning, and it’s very moving. I think it’s something that will stay with me for a very long time.”
Mr. Lange said he recommended everyone else experience it for themselves, as no one’s description could really capture the true effect.
“People told me, I had expectations, but nothing really prepares you for the actual experience of seeing it for yourself,” he added.
“I think there are a lot of universal truths and learnings passed from ancient times until now, that are really relevant in terms of how we lead our lives and how we think about things, how we relate to others, and how we relate to the world and also to our spiritual world,” he said. “And I think, giving us the opportunity to pause and to reflect and to feel, this is so much more on many, many levels. So all I can say is thank you very much.”
