WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.—“They danced in the air like butterflies,” said Ziggy Zieba, a tennis professional who coaches at Palm Beach’s Mar-a-Lago Club. Mr. Zieba and his wife, Barbara, attended the April 21 Shen Yun performance at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts.
He said he enjoyed Shen Yun’s presentation of Chinese culture: “It was a very good cultural breakthrough for me—China and America.”
“I think we need something like this in the United States, some different flavor, different culture,” Mr. Zieba said. “I feel better, more rich. I am rich, I am rich with [a] different culture.”
The athleticism of the dancers also impressed him, and he compared them to top tennis players Roger Federer and Maria Sharapova. Mr. Zieba should know. He has coached tennis for 40 years, with clients that include George Soros.
“The best sports, dance, music bring people together,” Mr. Zieba said.
Mrs. Zieba said the performance was “gorgeous, beautiful.” She was struck by the slim physiques of the dancers. “The women and men, so beautiful and elegant—it was a pleasure to look at them.”
“We enjoyed the performance tremendously. We’re very happy that we came,” she said.
Shen Yun is performing its last engagement in Florida for the 2015 season tonight at the Kravis Center. Its touring companies will continue to perform in the United States, Asia, and Europe through the end of April.
