MIAOLI, Taiwan—Many rotary international directors around Taiwan attended Shen Yun Performing Arts at the Miaobei Art Center in Miaoli on Feb. 25. Several of them received The Epoch Times’ interviews and spoke highly of the world’s premier classical Chinese dance company that came from New York.
‘Flawless and Miraculous’
“I was mesmerized by Shen Yun and my heart was very touched. I felt the power and beauty of the dancer’s movements. It’s magic and miraculous,” said Ms. Yu Hsiu-ling, the president of Rotary International Zhongli Center District Branch.
She said Shen Yun was perfect without a single flaw, and the show delivered strong energy. “I saw many theatergoers are inspired and uplifted. Me too, I was encouraged [to be more diligent],” she added.
Ms. Yu received the interview with her husband and her friend Ms. Wang Hui-chuan, the director of the Rotary International DEI.
“I was very moved. The feeling is like being jolted with electricity,” Ms. Wang said with a big smile on her face. “The show is majestic from the first second. When I saw the first scene on stage, I just felt it’s fantastic!”
Ms. Wang said Shen Yun presented the beauty from heaven which can’t be found on earth normally.
“The colors of Shen Yun are gorgeous and bright. You just feel your eyes are lightened when you see them,” she said. “Shen Yun dancers really presented ancient China. Watching Shen Yun, I felt I was an emperor watching the dances that only an emperor has the right to watch.”
New York-based Shen Yun is the world’s top classical Chinese dance company, and has a mission to show the beauty and goodness of “China before communism.” For 5,000 years China’s civilization was built on values and virtues from the spiritual teachings of Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism.
‘Magnificent’
Mr. Wu Kuo-sung is the president of the Rotary International Zhongli Branch. He attended Shen Yun with his wife.
“The dancers are outstanding. They expressed the Chinese culture very well and comprehensively,” he said. “The show is magnificent. It inspired us and encouraged us to be good and kind.”
Mr. Li Mou-chun is the director and manager of the Rotary International Xin Wu Branch. He said Shen Yun can nourish people’s minds and comfort people’s souls.
“Watching Shen Yun, my mind was cleaned and I felt very calm and relaxed,” he said. “People in current world are very busy and suffer big pressures. People need Shen Yun to calm their souls.”
Mr. Li said Shen Yun’s dynamic backdrop is “very magical and special.”
“The dancers on the stage entered the backdrop, and the figures on the backdrop came out to the stage!” he said. “The design is stunning!”
Each Shen Yun performance consists of nearly 20 vignettes, presented through highly-expressive art forms such as classical Chinese dance, original orchestral music performed live, soloists who sing in the bel canto tradition, animated digital backdrops, and more.
‘Should Learn from Shen Yun’
Mr. Yang I-hsiung is the head of a hard hat company. He, his wife, and his son joined the Rotary International group and attended Shen Yun together.
“The dancers danced very professionally. They danced like divine beings. Their expressions are very powerful and magical,” he said. “The music is also very beautiful and elegant and pleasant to my senses. Actually, I felt shocked when I heard this music!”
Mrs. Yang enjoyed Shen Yun as well. She said the show is “super beautiful and very bright. I was fascinated by it and forgot to blink my eyes in the over-two hours.”
The Yang couple said the traditional culture and values that Shen Yun delivered were very important and touching.
“We should remember the traditional cultures. I was very impressed that Shen Yun uses dances and the artistic methods to present the history and traditional stories,” said Mr. Yang.
Chinese history respects the virtues like loyalty, propriety, wisdom, justice, and benevolence—values that are universal and shared the world over.
The Yang family expressed their appreciation for Shen Yun artists and said everybody can learn from them.
