OKLAHOMA CITY—Shen Yun Performing Arts wowed the audience at the OCCC Visual and Performing Arts Center Theater on Feb. 23. Stan Solo and his wife, Becky Feikema, enjoyed Shen Yun’s presentation immensely.

Stan Solo, a retired instructor in aviation electronics, was amazed at the coordination of Shen Yun’s dancers.

“Excellent. Fantastic. It’s very nice. The dancers are incredibly in synchronization. Incredible. I’ve never seen anything like that,” he said.

He especially resonated with the dance that presented the Chinese communist regime’s persecution of Falun Gong. “I like the last performances about the religious experience you talked about. I like that. I enjoyed that. I’m glad to see they are speaking up for that,” he said.

Ms. Feikema, who worked in sales, said, “I was going to say pleasantly surprised, but it’s more than that. I expected it to be amazing and it’s terrific. It’s terrific.”

She enjoyed the humor in the performance. “Even the humor surprised me,” Ms. Feikema said.

Shen Yun’s mission is to revive and restore China’s cultural tradition of 5,000 years of stories and legends—bringing to life on stage “China before communism.”

Mr. Solo noted how the communist regime has suppressed China’s rich culture. “I think they have a good message. I think they’re making a point. I support their point about being free to say and believe what you want to believe. I’m totally in agreement with that,” he said.

With his background in electronics and technology, Mr. Solo commented on the 3D animated backdrop that interacts with the performers. “The technology in the background; how they go from live to the screen—I’ve never seen anything like that. That is beautiful, that’s wonderful.”

To the performers, Mr. Solo said, “Keep doing what they’re doing. It’s wonderful. They make it look easy.”

Ms. Feikema said, “We know better than that,” adding that she appreciated “the effort they have to go through to perform like that. I mean, it takes a lot of hours.”
