SAN FRANCISCO—Orlando Diaz-Azcuy, the interior designer for the War Memorial Opera House’s Intermezzo Lounge, was pleased to see the rich history of 5,000 years of Chinese civilization fill the venue attending Shen Yun Performing Arts in San Francisco, Jan. 11.
Mr. Diaz-Azcuy, who splits his time between the East and West coasts, was intrigued to discover that Shen Yun is based in New York, founded by a group of international artists to revive the divinely inspired traditional Chinese culture.
Mr. Diaz-Azcuy is one of the best awarded architect-designers in the country, known for his luxurious interiors, and has worked on high-end hotels internationally as well during his nearly-50 years as the founder of an interior design firm.
“I think the cultural art is terrific, terrific. I fully emotionally support it,” Mr. Diaz-Azcuy said.
Through traditional Chinese dance, music blending East and West, brilliant costumes, and a digital backdrop, Shen Yun brings to life the culture that was once nearly lost under the current regime in China.
“I enjoy it, I enjoy it, and I wish to see more of that,” Mr. Diaz-Azcuy said.
Mr. Diaz-Azcuy, who is familiar with the large Chinese communities in San Francisco and New York, said he wished more people could see the traditional Chinese culture presented by Shen Yun.
“I think it’s great and I think we [are] more and more supportive of it, especially in San Francisco,” Mr. Diaz-Azcuy said.
