RALEIGH, North Carolina—Shen Yun Performing Arts presented a colorful and exhilarating performance of classical Chinese dance that left Dr. Benton Satterfield satisfied.
“I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was wonderful,” the doctor of obstetrics and gynecology said. “The whole thing was impressive. The talent of the dancers is just phenomenal.”
The New York-based Shen Yun performance featured the world’s foremost classically trained dancers, a unique orchestra blending East and West, and dazzling digital backdrops projected onto a large screen, the company website reports.
Dr. Satterfield has practiced in Raleigh for 52 years and three reviewers have given his standing in the community 5-out-of-5 stars for excellence, according to the website: He attended medical school at the Duke University School of Medicine and graduated in 1962.
Dr. Satterfield accompanied Ammagarnet Satterfield to the show on Jan. 10.
Ms. Satterfield, a nurse, loved every minute of the two-hour performance, she said.
“I loved it. It was wonderful, wonderful, wonderful,” Ms. Satterfield said. “Just their talent, it’s just beautiful. It’s graceful and ... I just loved it, it’s very different.”
Through the universal language of music and dance, Shen Yun weaves a wondrous tapestry of heavenly realms, ancient legends, and modern heroic tales, taking you on a journey through 5,000 years of Chinese culture. Its stunning beauty and tremendous energy leave audiences uplifted and inspired, such as the Satterfields.
Ms. Satterfield said she sensed the spirituality emanating from within the performers just by their “quality, and movements, and gracefulness,” she said.
