PHILADELPHIA—Shen Yun Performing Arts performed at the Miller Theater in Philadelphia on March 17. Bill and Gina Gordon enjoyed the performance in many ways.

Mr. Gordon, an accountant, said, “I love the dance, it’s beautiful, the history and everything.”

Mrs. Gordon, a professor who teaches nursing at Holy Family University, said: “My daughter is a dancer, so we love the ballet and the dancing. I love the dancing, and I love the emotion behind it. It’s very powerful.”

Through classical Chinese dance and music, Shen Yun is sharing with the world the beauty of China’s authentic 5,000 years of history. Since its founding in 2006, the company has received worldwide accolades for its mission to revive traditional Chinese culture.
Mr. Gordon said it’s important to bring China’s traditional culture to the world. “I just think it’s the history of the Chinese people. It’s been suppressed by the communist government. So I think it’s an atrocity, terrible.”

Mrs. Gordon said. “Yes, I agree. I think it’s very important to bring this back, this culture, and share it with everyone.”

This is the second time the Gordons have attended a Shen Yun performance, and they brought their daughter this time. Mr. Gordon said the show has great educational appeal.

Mr. Gordon expressed how important it is to teach the next generation about history. “I think it’s important; otherwise, they will forget it. They won’t know the history. So I think it’s very important,” he said.

Mr. Gordon was impressed with the culture of ancient China: “Just the beauty of the culture and the history of China prior to the time of discovery.”

Mrs. Gordon agreed. “I love the culture, and I'll keep in mind the horror of what I saw, and thank you for bringing this to us. I hope we can come back and see it again next year.”

Children Experience Traditional Chinese Culture by Shen Yun

Jonathan Ireland, president of an investment firm, brought his family to Shen Yun. “The show is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen. The athletic work of the dancers, the beautiful costumes, the wonderful music,’” he said.

“It’s a true joy to watch something like this. And it also is a bit of culture that I don’t normally see here in America that I’m learning about. So it’s enriching, it’s entertaining, and it’s beautiful beyond belief, and I truly enjoy it.
He was happy to bring his children: “I bring them because I want them to experience all cultures. I love the arts, my wife and I love the arts, and I want them to experience something that we don’t normally see,” he said.
