SAN FRANCISCO—Cindy Ivester, who is a photographer and has her own business, attended Shen Yun Performing Arts at the San Francisco War Memorial Opera House on Jan. 12.
Ms. Ivester said she will recommend Shen Yun to everybody. “It’s an experience of a lifetime,” she said. “You will not regret it.”
As a photographer, Ms. Invester was impressed with the color. “The color on this show was amazing. It was so fabulous and so vibrant; it was lovely,” she said.
Those colors, designed with an emphasis on harmonic balance and contrast, are found in Shen Yun’s originally-created costumes, hundreds of pieces made for each year’s all-new world tour.
The colors are also present in Shen Yun’s vividly-animated projected backdrop, a living setting that complements and synchronizes with each dance number. Shen Yun’s backdrop extends the stage to scenes of earthly and heavenly realms.
She praised how Shen Yun used animated backdrops in its performance. “They were appropriate and a perfect addition to all of the numbers; it really brought them more to life,” she said.
She said she had seen advertisements on TV and found that Shen Yun is “extremely popular.” But seeing them in person is “so different, so amazing.”
She said Shen Yun left her with good memories and a better understanding of Chinese history.
