NEW ORLEANS—Shen Yun Performing Arts graced the stage at the Saenger Theatre with its inaugural performance in New Orleans on Feb. 18.
Epoch Times spoke with a few audience members who attended the evening performance to collect their feedback about the performance.
Mr. Phil Grigsby, a meteorologist, said Shen Yun put on a fantastic performance.
“It’s great. It’s fantastic, very colorful. The music is beautiful. The dancing is fantastic—it’s amazing,” Mr. Grigsby said.
The New York-based Shen Yun, formed by a group of leading classical Chinese artists with a mission to revive China’s traditional culture, also offered Mr. Grigsby a chance to learn more about China.
“It’s interesting to get the history of China,” he said. “It’s something you really don’t learn as a student here in America.”
Amazing Colors
Betty Pizarro, a retired teacher, found Shen Yun to be very colorful.
“It was very good, it was entertaining,” she said. “It was colorful.”
Shen Yun features hundreds of handmade costumes with vibrant colors, as well as a state-of-the art digital backdrop that sets the stage with stunning scenes from China’s myths and legends, as wells as the Middle Kingdom’s different areas.
Making the Chinese Proud
Jennifer Erwin said she thought the performance was very nice, and that it presented the Chinese heritage well.
“I think the Chinese people that I know would be proud,” Ms. Erwin said.
Shen Yun will be staging one more performance in New Orleans on Wednesday Feb. 19.
