MANCHESTER, UK—The matinee audience watching Shen Yun Performing Arts expressed amazement at the all-new production at the Palace Theatre. Josie Williamson, a nurse, came to the performance with her daughter Jen Roper, a doctor, and was touched by the stories depicted in the dances.

Ms. Williamson said she liked all the dances. “It was all good. Every one of them was good,” she said.

Shen Yun is based in New York, and its mission is to revive 5,000 years of divinely inspired Chinese culture. Although Shen Yun is helping the world understand more about the traditional culture of China before communism through its global tours each season, it is banned in China.

A moving sequence was a modern-day story of an elderly school teacher who is blinded by communists Ms. Roper said, “There was a lot more emotion behind it than I thought, especially the one at the school.”

Both said they preferred traditional culture before communism. Ms. Roper said, “I can’t believe that it can’t be seen in China.”

“Everyone’s got a right to believe in what they’ve got to believe in. So, it’s just a shame that you can’t, and you’re persecuted for ... what you’re believing in,” she said.

Learning that Chinese traditional culture is semi-divine, Ms. Williamson said, “I think I’m more interested in it now than I was.”

Ms. Williamson was touched by the traditional values of love and compassion expressed in the dances.

Ms. Roper said he enjoyed “The cultural values behind it: love of family.”

Ms. Woodyer, who owns a health and fitness club, said, “It’s incredible. We love the animation. It’s just magical. And the dresses are just exquisite.”

She especially enjoyed the Tibetan dance.
Many in the audience have been impressed by the 3D animated backdrop that works together with characters on the stage.

“The animation is just incredible. It’s magical. It transports you [to another dimension], doesn’t it?” she said.

The sisters both commented on the energy from the stage. “It’s incredible,” Ms. Woodyer said.
