UNIVERSITY PARK, Ill.—Joseph Roudez III, mayor of University Park Village, was delighted by Shen Yun at the Center for Performing Arts at Governors State University on April 27.

“Fantastic display of art, color, and music,” he said.

“It just touched my heart … it was really awesome and refreshing.”

New York-based Shen Yun was founded in 2006 with a mission of reviving the traditional culture of China and sharing it with audiences around the globe through world-class performances of classical Chinese dance and music.
Roudez was amazed by the company’s patented method of integrating a 3D animated backdrop with the stage performance. It allows the performers to travel back and forth between the stage and the background.
“It really blows my mind when they come out of the scene, they just disappear and go into the space. That’s awesome!” he said.

China’s rich history has been under attack by the communist regime, which has systematically destroyed, distorted, and supplanted the traditional culture with its own—a reality that many in the West are not aware of.

Shen Yun says its performance this year demonstrates “China before communism.”
“To the Chinese people who don’t have an opportunity to see this performance, you’re missing out on something really, really good. And if there’s any way that you can find a way to see it, please do. You will love it,” said Roudez.

“It is something that is a must-see. It’s a lifetime experience,” he said.

Shirley A. Bolding, on the board of Trustees for University Park, was equally delighted by Shen Yun at the Center for Performing Arts at Governors State University.
“We really enjoyed the performance tonight. It was awesome, something that we have never seen before,” she said.
‘The costumes, the backgrounds, the whole show was magnificent,” she added.

Bolding was especially inspired by the values of faith and courage presented in several performance pieces.
