LONDON, U.K.—Shen Yun Performing Arts gave a stirring performance at London’s Eventim Appollo on Feb. 3. Ron and Nicky Dando greatly enjoyed the performance. They traveled from the Isle of Wight in the English Channel to see Shen Yun.
Ron, a retired carpenter who now makes acoustic violins, said, “It’s interesting what’s going on in China. We hear things and see things, and so [Shen Yun] is very, very brave to put that on, I think.”
To the performers, Mr. Dando could only say, “Well done. What else can you say?” And Mrs. Dando added, “Keep on practicing, keep going. It’s brilliant. We love it.”
About his spiritual journey and connection with the divine, Mr. Dando said, “I think our spiritual journey in the world—it’s personal. It’s about an inner journey, isn’t it? Heaven’s within, you know.
Mrs. Dando felt a connection to the message. “Yes. Definitely.”
Mr. Dando said he enjoyed the live music. “It’s lovely to see a real orchestra, isn’t it? I like that. It’s lovely, you know.” He enjoyed the erhu. To all the musicians, he said, “Top class. Top-class instruments—it’s very good, yes.”
‘Absolutely Brilliant’
Sandhya Sharma, a human resource manager, attended the performance of Shen Yun with her sons, Vivek and Varun.
This was the second time Mrs. Sharma had seen Shen Yun. The vigor and vitality of the production amazed her. “In all the theater I’ve ever seen, I’ve never seen such vibrancy and such energy,” she said. “Absolutely brilliant. Loved it. So I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves theater.”
Mrs. Sharma said she could feel the power of the dances. “It’s just amazing. You can feel them; you can feel the energy and the positivity of everything.”
Mr. Vivek Sharma, a TV producer, loved the animation, like a film. He thought he quite possibly might use the dances as inspiration for a production.
Shen Yun presents a culture inspired by the heavens. Mr. Varun Sharma, a restaurant manager, resonated with Falun Dafa that is based on truth, compassion, and forbearance.
Mrs. Sharma and her sons all had positive words for the performers. “Just brilliant, well done. I mean, the amount of practice that must go into being able to perform like that night after night is just amazing,” she said.
Mr. Vivek Sharma said, “Exceptional. Unbelievable physicalness to it.” Mr. Varun Sharma said, “Very good. Amazing, amazing performance.”
With shows scheduled in over 200 cities and across five continents, the 2024 touring season is shaping up to be the artists’ busiest yet.
